Join Qualcomm's Research Team, based in San Diego, California. We are looking for talented individuals to contribute the development of new generations of wireless devices.

Qualcomm Research is taking its traditional strengths in digital wireless technologies in exciting new software and systems directions in the field of Augmented Reality and Computer Vision.

Specific duties include:

  • Being a part of a team working on developing Augmented Reality enabling technology.
  • Developing, simulating, implementing and testing algorithms for Augmented Reality.
  • Developing new computer vision approaches for mobile devices.


  • The ideal candidate has five or more years of experience in at least two of the following areas:

    Augmented Reality
  • Experience with hands-on laboratory implementation, verification & optimization of augmented reality systems.
  • In depth understanding of marker based and Natural feature based AR systems.
  • Familiar with coherent rendering techniques for AR.
  • Familiar with AR user interfaces.
  • Experience with outdoor AR systems is a plus.


  • Computer Vision
  • Experience with hands-on laboratory implementation, verification and optimization of real -time monocular computer vision systems.
  • In depth understanding of state of the art natural feature detection and description algorithms like SIFT SURF and FERNS.
  • In depth understanding of 2D and 3D tracking algorithms.
  • Experience with SLAM algorithms.
  • Experience with face detection or OCR is a plus.


  • Image Processing
  • In depth understanding of state of the art image segmentation technology.
  • Experience with color correction and image normalization algorithms.
  • Experience with image compression.
  • Experience with image registration.


  • Sensor Fusion
  • Experience with hands-on laboratory implementation, verification and optimization of sensor fusion systems.

  • In depth understanding of Kalman filters and Bayesian networks.
  • Experience with MEMS inertial sensors.
  • Experience with position/orientation determination systems is a plus.
  • The ideal candidate has evaluated tradeoff among feature-richness, complexity and cost of end to end Systems.


  • Required: Master's, Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering
    Preferred: Doctorate, Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering
