The Automation Intern is primarily responsible for the support of projects and company initiatives that are directly related to the automation department. This individual works closely with our Automation Specialists, Inside Sales and Sales Support Team to develop and deliver customer solutions with our products. This individual displays behaviors that support our culture, our 5 P’s and our purpose to be our customer’s competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
Job shadowing in various departments with a focus on automation

Orientation to the Technical Support Center - Become familiar with customer technical support process

Customer Site Visits - Travel with Werner Technical Specialists to consult with a Werner customer to experience the process of working through upgrading or designing a project.

Attend Commercial Events - Audit technical sessions, labs, and trade show

Generate training materials - Work with Werner Technical Specialists to create training modules for Outside Sales and Customer Service employees

Electrical Distribution Orientation – Learn the roles of various departments in the organization as well as relationships with key partners

Perform assigned tasks as directed

Manage both inbound and outbound sales communication both internally and externally

Required Experience

High School Graduate

Currently enrolled in a College or University pursuing Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Bachelors Degree Preferred)

Considered a Leader

Excellent ability to learn and implement new software packages quickly

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Proven people skills

Cooperative attitude with team-oriented disposition

Able to commit to a set work schedule

Proficient in Microsoft Office software specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
