The Automation & Business Support group creates PC-based system solutions that support operations-related goals and projects on the corporate and divisional level. This includes creation and maintenance of databases (including firm-wide support of all Access databases), creation and maintenance of PERL applications and SQL Server databases and utilization and customization of software for ongoing mainframe-to-desktop downloading. The group also supports ongoing development of web-based application (e.g., PBS), supports Membership Administration, and coordinates business continuity planning and disaster recovery exercises.
Incumbents serve as liaisons between Operations business groups and IT (ADM and Infrastructure), and as technical consultants and developers on the more routine automation development projects. Incumbents also evaluate, recommend and create PERL applications, SQL Server databases and Microsoft Access solutions, perform self-audits of PTS profile administration, participate on project teams, and provide training to users. Incumbents setup and maintain Monarch Data Pump server, create solutions using PERL and extracts data from SQL Server databases. Incumbents also use Monarch Pro to extract data from text files.
Participate in long-term automation projects through all phases of the software development lifecycle including requirements gathering, prototype development, testing, development, and ongoing user/customer support.
- Monitors cut-overs of ADM business software solutions and systems.
- Develops tools (e.g., databases, spreadsheets) that facilitate preparation and presentation of business metrics related to divisional benchmarks and the Balanced Business Scorecard.
- Support the coordination of disaster recovery and business continuity planning exercises.
- Trains users as needed.
- Prepares materials for and submits to line management: presentations, goals updates, and reports.
- Works with IT to resolve day-to-day problems as needed.
3+ years of experience in utilization and customization of software products and databases, including business system analysis, and hands-on PERL application development, SQL Server database creation and maintenance and Access database development.
3+ years of experience in DTCC or financial services preferred
Knowledge and Skills Required
Hands-on knowledge of Lotus Notes, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word required.
Hands-on Microsoft Access programming in VBA is required.
Hands-on PERL programming is required.
Knowledge of SQL Server data entry, retrieval and reporting preferred.
Knowledge of Monarch Data Pump setup and administration and Monarch Pro preferred.
K nowledge of mainframe and web-based application design.
Good analytical, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work in teams.
Education, Training &/or Certification:
Technical or business degree or equivalent professional experience.
Appropriate technical certifications preferred.
