This is a Term Appointment Not to Exceed (NTE) Two (2) Years.

This position is located in the Office of Preparedness and Emergency Operations (OPEO), Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR), Office of the Secretary (OS), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), in Washington, DC.

This announcement may be used to fill multiple positions in multiple locations. KEY REQUIREMENTS

Background investigation required. DUTIES:
Performs a full range of repair and maintenance functions and services on light and heavy duty vehicles, generators, automobiles, buses, trucks, forklifts, warehouse tractors, light ground maintenance equipment, and heating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

Uses complex test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, volt meters, ohmmeters and pressure gauges to determine exact nature or extent of repairs or adjustments.

Operates vehicles and material handling equipment and performs daily preventive maintenance on all vehicles and equipment in accordance with established procedures.

Prepares, maintains, and submits maintenance work orders for man-hour and data collection. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
While there is no minimum amount of training or experience required, the applicant must have had experience, military or civilian, paid or unpaid, of sufficient scope and quality to perform the duties of an Automotive Mechanic, WG-5823-10. The applicant must have experience performing tasks that involves troubleshooting, repairing, and/or overhauling major components and systems such as engines, transmissions, differentials and transaxles, electronic fuel injection systems, emission control systems, and related electrical, electronic, hydraulic, fuel, and other assemblies.
