Description Must provide complete set of personal tools with roll type toolbox to meet maintenance requirements up to class 8 automotive, to perform service on all company and customer vehicles as described in the preventive maintenance schedule or requested by the customer including oil changes, grease jobs, filter changes and repairs to automotive electrical systems. General knowledge in semi tractor trailer maintenance including but not limited to structural, frame, and suspension, electrical and brakes systems.
Assists in the training of mechanic STS -1 in order that they may upgrade their skills. May trouble shoot and/or repair refrigeration problems. With assistance may diagnose and perform required repairs.
Performs all duties in compliance with State, Federal, and Company regulations, policies, and procedures (including safety). Cooperates well with all levels and areas within Schwan’s. Role models and promotes a positive and motivating atmosphere.
Qualifications Education: High school degree or equivalent
Years of Related Experience: 2 years of hands on experience in related automotive field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Demonstrates an acceptable level of sound decision making abilities based on their level of experience and training. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Must possess knowledge in gas and diesel powered fuel systems, braking, suspension and electrical systems.
Must have and maintain State and Federal Certifications that are required to perform any service that Schwan’s required of this position, including but not limited to. D.O.T. Vehicle Inspection Certification. Must have EPA Type II refrigeration certification or be willing to obtain. Must have a valid Minnesota driver’s license. Class A or B CDL desirable.
