This position is expected to work with a diverse set of clients and provide strong overall system support over a series of complex systems. This position will assist with the interface between the current EIS System and the NCFAST system as needed. This position requires on call responsibility and work in excess of a regular 40 hours work week depending on the automation needs of the clients.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
The successful candidate must be a motivated, self-starter and team player and have demonstrated experience in programming of application systems and an in-depth knowledge of structured programming techniques & various software including:: IMS, TSO/MVS Z/OS, JCL, Cobol V3R3M0, Word, Project Management Tools & Mainframe Technology. The successful candidate must possess thorough knowledge of the principles of Application Systems Development & Associated Life Cycle, must possess strong interpersonal & communication skills and strong organizational and time management skills; must have the ability to provide leadership in planning and organizing the work of others. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, manage timelines, resources, staff and lead implementation efforts in less complex technology areas. This position requires understanding how new technologies impact the current system. The successful candidate must be able to modify procedures to solve moderate to complex problems considering system constraints and limitations; must have good problem solving skills; and must have strong communication skills to communicate with lower level technicians, senior level management and clients about system problems and solutions to those problems.
This position is posted at the advanced competency level and is equivalent to a salary grade 74. If no candidates are identified at the advanced competency level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level.
Experience with Endevor, IMS, DB2, SQL, Easytrieve Plus, File Aid, CICS, VSAM, Zeke, XPTR, Expeditor 7.x, knowledge and experience with State Government systems; and; and Reporting platforms (Crystal Reports and MS SQL Server Reporting). Web development interface experience with Websphere to a mainframe environment is a plus.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Associate's degree in computer programming; or bachelor's degree with nine credit hours in programming; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
