In keeping with the philosophy of Dignity Health, the incumbent in this position is responsible for the coordination of all bariatrics services provided in association with weight loss surgery performed at Marian Regional Medical Center. This Bariatric Program Coordinator works directly with the Bariatric Program Director and reports to the COO/CNE.Has experience coordinating bariatric services provided in association with weight loss surgery performed at an acute care facility. Has experience with surgical scheduling, insurance authorizations, and pre-surgery tests. Experience ensuring patients have received appropriate psychological and other counseling. Experience with facilitating support groups; holds frequent patient education events throughout Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties. Has experience with expanding ancillary services in regards to bariatric patients such as exercise programs, nutritional seminars, community social events as well as yearly bariatric outings. Has experience with staging continual in-services for nursing, transporters, etc. Has experience with pre-admit. Has experience with budget preparation and oversight. Experience with data tracking and Management and Quality Improvement activities. Demonstrated ability to work with various hospital departments and physicians to schedule patient clinic appointments expeditiously, within protocol timelines and/or surgery requirements. Computer skills including statistical data collection and analysis and database management. Experience in patient file review and appropriate management. Excellent time management skills. Ability to initiate and execute workload. independently and to function effectively in high stress environment. Ability to achieve results utilizing proactive problem solving skills. Ability to exercise good judgement and maintain strict confidentiality in all job related matters. Detail oriented with good organizational skills. Ability to prioritize as efficiently as possible. Selection Criteria
Current California Registered Nurse. Current BLS Certification. 3 to 5 years of surgery experience and/or medical surgical floor nurse experience providing post-surgical care to patients. Previous experience working with weight loss surgery patients preferred Registered Nurse Bachelor's degree Nursing Master's degree preferred. Wound Care Certification preferred .
