Job Description:
The applicant will perform in vitro experiments using a variety of cell lines using protein biochemistry, molecular biology, sub-cellular fractionation, and advanced microscopy techniques. The laboratories focus is the investigation of tyrosine kinase inhibition as treatment for pancreatic and esophageal cancer.

This position will be responsible for performing analysis on rodent and human tissues derived from animals and pts. The position will process and analyze the tissues using histologic, immunohistologic and gene expression micro-arrays in conjunction with our collaborators.

This position will be responsible for developing and conducting independent projects under supervision, while providing mentorship and leadership to other members of the lab including clinical fellows, technicians and graduate students.

Maintains laboratory supplies and equipment performance; may order products, request technical assistance and equipment servicing from businesses, equipment and assay quality control. The employee will be expected to assist in laboratory maintenance including ordering and stocking supplies and solutions, and oversight of good laboratory practices to ensure a safe working environment. Maintenance of a detailed note book, assistance in preparation of abstracts and manuscripts, and presentation of results at appropriate venues that may include occasional travel is expected.

Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with in vivo murine models is desired, but not essential as training in these techniques can be provided. The ability to perform Quantitative RT- PCR and work with bio-safety level 2 reagents is also strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate will possess competence in in-vitro experimentation including all aspects of cell culture, viability, migration assays, and proliferation assays as well as immunoblotting and preparation of samples for fluorescent microscopy and flow cytometry.
