Operates and maintains automatically fired boilers to generate steam that supplies heating systems in the hospital. Operates and maintains automatically controlled chillers, pumps, and cooling towers that supply chilled water to the hospital for air conditioning systems. Conducts water tests, distributes, chemical dosages to heating/cooling system to insure proper water quality. Responds to and addresses requests for maintenance. Acts as part of labor pool during times of need and/or emergency.
HS Diploma, GED or equivalent knowledge
Graduate of 2 years trade school or equivalent with 1 year of applicable experience, or 5 years of applicable experience.
Valid PA Driver’s License
Prior Experience: Graduate of 2 years trade school or equivalent with 1 year of applicable experience, or 5 years of applicable experience.
Technically competent to complete a variety of diverse maintenance tasks including utility distribution equipment, automated controls and pressure vessel systems. Practices service management. Ability to read and understand blueprints, control diagrams, process flow diagrams and technical manuals; follow written instructions and operating procedures. Shift work required.
Preferred Factor: Experience in the operation of boiler/power plant equipment and associated water treatment; and/or experience in the operation of commercial or industrial continuous process equipment. Boiler operator certification. Stationary Engineer's License. Refrigerant recovery/reclaim license.
