Our PERFORMANCE EXCELLENCE BUSINESS ANALYST position is critical to the success of St. Joseph's Medical Center and requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health. Under the direction of the Director of Performance Excellence, the Business Analyst supports operational improvements through teams such as Transformational Care (TC) and Clinical Operations Improvement (COI), using Lean/Six Sigma principles.

The Business Analyst will act as a catalyst for change and a motivational force to transform the organizational culture to one of continuous improvement. Responsible for process implementation, education, and maintenance of designated value streams and rapid improvement events as assigned. Functions as a liaison for staff, management, and physicians, and must have a working knowledge of clinical processes and function. Responsible for efficient and complete data abstraction, analysis and interpretation, and data reporting to support the program and team projects. Responsible for driving analysis and data reports for TC and COI for the facility; draws meaningful conclusions from the data, maintains the program scorecards, and calculates financial results.

Navigates Hospital IT systems for data collection and management. Maintains integrity and confidentiality of all data. Coordinates and participates in TC, COI, Lean, leadership, and change management training initiatives. Must remain flexible and be comfortable with ambiguity within a demanding and constantly changing environment; effectively manages multiple projects and time. Facilitates TC Team meetings and assists in mentoring Team Members and Team Leads. Acts as resource for TC and COI when Performance Excellence Director is unavailable. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values.

The employee shall support the Organization's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Healthcare, Finance or related field
2-5 years of progressive experience in hospital or medical field
Excellent math skills and experience with statistics
Ability to lead in a team-oriented environment
A high level of problem-solving, analytical skills, and ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
Must be able to exercise initiative, independence, and judgment regarding methods of work and in resolving problems
Excellent organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent oral and written communication, as well as presentation and facilitation skills
Advanced skill in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, as well as financial, EHR systems used in the facility
Passion for energizing the organization
Ability to demonstrate drive and enthusiasm for continuous improvement

PREFERRED

Report compilation, data analysis and healthcare IT applications experience highly preferred
Master’s Degree in Business, Healthcare, Finance or related field.
Prior experience with Six Sigma/Quality Improvement programs preferred
