At 23andMe, we deal with genetic data on a scale that dwarfs what most academic tools were built to manage. Our research and development team is constantly working to improve how we process, maintain, and analyse hundreds of terabytes of sequencing data, along with the largest consumer genotype database in the world. And we need more of you.
You’ll be: adapting existing algorithms (and developing new ones) for HPC and cloud environments; using your computational skills and biological insights to develop product feature prototypes; enabling groundbreaking research using our unique database; working with the best team of scientists and engineers in the business.
Requirements (you must have all of these):
Proficiency with Python 2.5+ and C/C++
Very strong coding skills and a history of developing well-engineered solutions
Background in algorithm development, HPC, or cloud computing
BS (or equivalent experience) in computer science, computational biology, or related field; advanced degree preferred
Pluses (you should have some of these):
Experience with sequencing data and next generation technologies
Familiarity with computer science tools
Research experience in genetics or related computer science field
A PLUS! - a publicly available tool (or webapp) that you wrote, that does something cool
