Responsibilities will include supporting the planning, execution, and assessment of Backup and Disaster Recovery/COOP operations; Serve as Backup/Restore Engineer assisting in defining DR/COOP and backup requirements and developing COOP plans, procedures, and activities.
Assist in analyzing and determining requirements to ensure disaster recovery facilities have the necessary space, equipment, plans and procedures in place in preparation for a COOP activity.
Develop and deliver COOP awareness training to educate customer workforce.
Design, develop, build, and test infrastructure engineering solutions as part of a team that introduces new technologies and/or improves existing technologies in compliance with established project management processes.
Ensure that the solutions are fully documented and in compliance with applicable security requirements for the classification level of the system.
Backup and Recovering including offsite data replication to COOP Sites; high availability clustering; Unix, Linux, Mac OSX; Windows; capacity planning and management.
Assist in preparing briefing materials for customer personnel and deliver briefing to senior Government officials.
Maintains network security and ensures compliance with security polices and procedures.
Evaluates hardware and software, including peripheral, output, and related equipment.
Participates in the development and implementation of network-related procedures and standards.
Participates in and may lead aspects of major network installations and upgrades.
Interfaces with vendors to ensure appropriate resolution during network outages or periods of reduced performance.
Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.
Responding to escalated requests for technical assistance.
Provides advice and training to tier 2 desktop support team /end-users.
Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications as assigned.
Participates in special projects as required.
This position may require shift work and weekend work.
This position may require deployments to CONUS and OCONUS locations worldwide, and may include hazardous duty areas.
Deployments can be of duration of up to 180 days; this position typically deploys on an as-required basis.
