As Banquet Business Manager, you will liaise between multiple departments to ensure the success of every group function – and model exceptional service and leadership skills among your team.

The grandeur of the fully restored hotel coupled with its reputation for impeccable service promises a regal experience. Completed in April 2001, the $85 million restoration project is highlighted by the re-emergence of the Main Lobby as a grand public space, as well as the remodeling of all the guestrooms.


Reporting to the Director of Banquets, It is the responsibility of the Banquet Business Manager to assist the Director of Banquets in the day to day operations of the Banquet Department as a liaison between operating departments and accounting.

Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner.

Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Fairmont Standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.

Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper business uniform and name tag while working.

Comply at all times with Fairmont standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

Ring in all checks for the day and set up the consumption checks that have to be completed in the evening, create tip sheet for the following day

Ring in tips via evention, trouble shoot discrepancy & hours

Fill out tip sheets, banquet check recap sheets, schedules, bid

Fill out coffee crew setup sheet for the next day and give this information with pertinent BEO’s to coffee crew.

Prepare am & pm houseman to do sheet

Handle payroll accounting questions, time saver edits referring them to a manager when needed.

Maintain weekly pars for banquet supplies as well as coffee crew supplies.

Handle all event preparation, including linen, signage, and supplies

Ensure proper staffing of All Functions and entering in union extras

Manager setup and detailing of Events

Answer the telephone and pass on pertinent information to managers, houseman, coffee crew or handle yourself if possible. Return calls as needed

Organize and maintain the office; files, supplies, etc.

Handle storeroom requisitions and daily linen inventory.

File daily BEO in the binder, change log and distribute server copy

Set up BEO’s on daily on the binder, track down and obtain missing BEO’s, read through all to determine areas to be double checked or questioned at daily BEO meetings.

Supervise BEO controls through guarantees and entering if information to maximize revenues

Make menu cards for functions and special holiday events, buffet labels and box lunch labels

Fill out linen pulls for the next day; give this information to the laundry.

Pick up and drop off invoices and PO

Weekly and monthly forecasting, and staffing accordingly based on business needs

Update daily revenue sheets and provide an analysis daily and weekly of revenue, covers and hours

50 hour work week and overtime eligible

Previous Banquets experience required

At least one year of supervisory experience in Banquets or equivalent related experience

Previous luxury hotel experience strongly preferrred

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.

Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.

Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations.

Bachelor's Degree preferred
