The Holiday In Arena is now recruiting a Banquet Porter. Experienced Only - Open Availability for this position
The Banquet Porter is responsible for cleaning, setting up, and maintaining the Banquet area. The Banquet Porter will place event tables, china, staging, and audiovisual equipment according to the catering order. The Banquet Porter will ensure customer satisfaction by providing the highest possible service standards. He/She will have the ability to communicate with others, work both independently and as part of a team, and maintain a clean and neat appearance. At the end of the event, the Banquet Porter will perform tear-down duties in order to secure all supporting wares and equipment in preparation for the next event.

The following is a representative list of Banquet set-up duties:
  • Understand and execute all instructions and information listed on the Event Floor Plan and Banquet Event Order
  • Correctly and efficiently set-up and break-down all functions
  • Check temperature and lighting in all rooms
  • Check electrical/phone hook-ups, ensuring proper working order and taping down cords
  • Set up and organization work station with designated supplies, replenishing as needed throughout shift and reporting shortages to management.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, responding in a quick, friendly and efficient manner
  • Break down the event set-up following the conclusion of the event
  • Provide other assistance as required
Day-to-day duties typically include:
-- Clean and sterilize dishes, kitchen utensils, equipment, and facilities
-- Stock service stations with items such as ice, napkins, and straws
-- Stack, remove trays and dishes and return to kitchen for dishwasher
-- Carry food, silverware, and/or linen on trays, or use carts to carry trays
-- Responsible for all meetings and function areas being set up on time and in accordance contract
specifications and hotel standards
-- Responsible for maintaining all banquet storage areas in an organized fashion
-- Assist Department Managers with inventories as required by Banquet Manager
-- Assist with serving guests with meals, banquet functions and function breaks
-- Responsible for proper maintenance order and storage of all banquet equipment including but not
limited to podiums, extension chords, glassware, china, utensils, Sternos, coffee urns, tables, chairs,
linens and AV equipment
-- Attends to buffet lines and when assigned acts as food runner
-- Respond in a helpful, friendly and timely manner to all customer requests
