The Westin Calgary is proud to announce the completion of a four-year, $35 million renovation. Every aspect of our hotel has been refreshed, from the guest rooms and meeting spaces to the lobby and restaurants. Department

Our 25 state-of-the-art meeting venues encompass 26,000 square feet of flexible space and can accommodate professional and social events of any size. The Banquet Department is open seven days/week 24 hours/day and caters to our Banquet Level for over 1600, and includes meeting rooms on the 17th floor, 2nd floor and outside catering. In keeping with our commitment to sustainability, all of our function and pre-function areas are powered by wind and hydro technology from Bullfrog Power.

Job Description

Become a valuable member of an exciting Banquet team that delivers top-notch service! The Banquet Server will serve all catered food and beverage items to our guests during private events in a timely, friendly, enthusiastic and professional manner showing high attention to detail. You will truly be a key component to a successful business meeting or a once in a life time social event.

The Banquet Server will gather all equipment necessary to service a function, while maintaining a clear and immaculate service corridor; room refreshes and general clean up as well as ensuring the station and table set ups are complete and meet departmental standards prior to service. At the end of each shift, you will clear tables and transport all equipment in the proper manner. In this role, you will work closely with and will collaborate with other departments in the hotel to enhance the guests' experience.

The ideal candidate must enjoy interacting and conversing with guests as well as working closely within a team. You will possess strong customer service skills, beliefs and communications skills. Our guest's expectations will always be exceeded through caring, efficient and attentive food and beverage service, delivered with enthusiasm, professionalism and in a way to truly personalize their entire experience. The ability to maintain a clean and safe working environment is critical to this role. This is a great opportunity for a person who desires to work in a role that is as important as it is rewarding.

Requirements

Requires very strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and a passion for dealing with and emotionally connecting with others.

Stamina to work in a physically demanding job which includes regular lifting and a lot of walking.

Must be able to regularly lift food trays and equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.

Nust be able to regularly push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs.

High school or equivalent education required.

Must be 18 years of age or older (to serve alcohol).

Ability to complete/obtain Proserve certification required. Current certification an asset.

Must be able to commit to a minimum of three shifts per week, including weekends and evenings. (Depending on your availability, you could average as many as 30 to 36 hours per week.)

Prior banquet or restaurant experience preferred.
