POSITION: Banquets Director

DEPARTMENT: Food and Beverage

REPORTS TO: Director of Food and Beverage/AGM

FLSA STATUS: Salaried-Exempt

SAVOR…Chicago, the leading food service provider located at McCormick Place Convention Center has an immediate opening for a Banquets Director. This position is responsible for direction and coordination of the Banquets Department operations at McCormick Place. Ideal candidate should have strong knowledge with providing oversight and leadership during catered functions, planning and directing unionized staff and management of Event Space and Food and Beverage product and services.

  • Recruiting, Hiring and Training of all Banquet, Beverage and Service Staff
  • Direct and mange department Banquet Managers and Beverage staff
  • Manage and develop job descriptions for department management and union personnel.
  • Facilitate Banquet Event Orders per contracts
  • Oversee all requisition for Banquets and Beverage
  • Must work with Catering Sales to obtain budgeted revenue goals.
  • Must be creative in displays and food presentations.
  • Attention to detail and consistency in every aspect of service is a must.
  • Position is very hands on with excessive interaction with clients during events.
  • Attend all Director, BEO and Operations meetings.
  • Maintain all Food and Beverage equipment related to Banquets to include; cleanliness and annual maintenance.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food & Beverage Management or related field desired
  • Minimum 3-5 years industry experience in management level position with three (3) of those years in a management function in an arena, convention center, stadium or hotel; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong P&L knowledge
  • Certification in Food Service Sanitation and Basset
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Prior experience in an Union environment
  • Computer literate (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Must be flexible, have a sense of urgency, be able to respond quickly and resourcefully to internal and external issues.
