Lectrus Corporation is seeking a Base Welder for our Houston, TX facility. The Base Welder follows customer specifications and engineering drawings and gathers required materials needed for assembly.
Primary Responsibilities/Duties:
Set up equipment and weld parts together using TIG, MIG, gas welding, brazing and any combination of arc welding processes.
Weld various metals including alloy, stainless, galvanized and carbon steels.
Provide a high level of precision welding on detailed parts, sub assemblies or complete units.
Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead position.
Examine weld for appropriate size, quality and precision.
Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and rewelding as needed.
Work with engineering staff to clarify information and obtain design changes as needed.
Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others
Keep materials and work area clean, organized and free from clutter, or any potential safety hazards.
Ensure all materials and equipment are organized, used and stored properly.
Perform additional duties as requested.
Educational Requirements:
High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
Skills/Qualifications Requirements:
Ability to use basic hand tools, power tools, tape measure, grinders, and saws safely.
Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
MIG welding.
Requires good judgment, and ability to work with others and perform other tasks as assigned.
Previous work with structural steel, welding and grinding processes.
Additional skills desired:
Ability to review designs and drawings (blueprints).
Strong attention to detail in measurements and design specifics.
Experience operating a forklift.
