Not a paid position with the Board of County Commission .

Volunteer Firefighter-Engages in direct fire and rescue activities. Volunteers respond via pagers and/or radio, initiated by the Incident Commander where volunteers proceed to the appropriate station and respond with requested apparatus. Volunteers are then part of the ICS for the duration of the call and follow the instructions of the Incident Commander.

Minimum Qualifications:

All requirements to become a volunteer for Bay County are governed by the requirement of Florida Statues 633 and Florida Administrative Code 69A-37.

Must be 18 or over to volunteer with Bay County.
Have a High School Diploma or GED
Must meet the requirement of the Bay County Board of County Commissioners' Driver Selection Policy
Meet medical examination complies with requirement set forth in NFPA 1585 (Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments.)
Must become at least Firefighter I certified within one (1) year as required by Florida Administrative Code.

Complete Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) training found on Fire Services Home Page and the 10 Supplemental Questions for BBP quiz at end of application. A 70% or better must be obtained to continue the application process.
