Compensation: Highly Competitive/Based on Experience

Summary: Provides medical services within the scope of licensing, training, and credentialing.

Specific Job Duties:
Nurse Practitioners will primarily be responsible for conducting medical examinations and immunizations according to contract guidelines. This will include but is not limited to:

a. The daily care of clinic patients including sick call assessments
b. Seeing patients in the shelter medical unit on a permanent basis. May involve weekend hours. This is a broad spectrum office that serves all ages and conditions.
c. Completing charting and required paperwork in a timely manner.
d. Participating in the development/review of office policies and supporting the office manager in their duties
e. May involve EMS support when on call or during office hours. This may include riding the ambulance to transfer patients to local area hospitals if necessary
f. Rounding on nurse calls to other office locations if needed

General Essential Job Functions:

f. Promotes a safety-conscious work force and maintains good housekeeping practices
g. Demonstrates the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual patient care appropriate to the age of patients served by demonstrative knowledge of the principles of growth and development
h. Ensure meticulous and comprehensive medical recordkeeping and documentation
i. Communicates appropriately with the person served regardless of their age
j. Performs other duties as required or assigned
k. Abide by all appropriate policies & procedures, with an emphasis on strict adherence to ethical codes
l. Ensure ability to perform in dynamic, fast-paced, stressful environments associated with disaster response situations


Language Requirement: Fluent in English and Spanish Required

Education / Credentials:
Graduate of Accredited School offering an Advanced Degree in Nurse Practice
Board Certification in specialty (if newly graduated from residency, must be obtained within 3 years of graduation) must be kept current

Experience: Minimum 1 year of NP in a family practice setting, prior RN experience a plus. Experience with pediatric and adult populations required. Experience completing physical assessments a must. Exceptional documentation skills required.


a. Unrestricted license to practice within the state of Texas
b. Current DEA certificate without restriction
c. PALS or NRP, BLS and ACLS
d. Must complete BCFS ESD medical staff training
e. Must complete and sign Operations Policy and Procedure review and certification
f. Must Sign Force Protection Policy
g. Must provide current physical-medical release
h. Must provide current MMR, Varicella, HepB, Tetanus and PPD
i. Must be able to perform physical activity such as extensive walking, lifting of patients, stretching and bending
j. Must be able to work in a team environment
k. Must be able to pass a criminal background
l. Must be able to past a drug screening without findings
m. Must be able to maintain professional people skills, oral, written, listening, and non-verbal communication skills
n. Must be able to supervise other medical personnel
o. Other requirements as necessary
