This position on Cray’s Performance Team will be located at Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL) and will be responsible for supporting the scientific users of Cray systems located at ORNL This individual will work with users of Cray systems to ensure their scientific software programs execute efficiently ensure they are able to get desired results and ensure they are able to utilize the system to advance their scientific work This person will need to interact with numerous people at the lab and respond to computer hardware software and programming questions This position will involve both short term projects and long term projects to enhance the experience of scientific users of Cray’s systems The position responsibilities include Porting and optimization of various scientific application codes to Cray platforms Addressing scientific user issues when they are encountered by users pursuing HPC results on Cray systems Coordination of scientific application and benchmark programming work to meet schedules and provide targeted results Developing and maintain working relationships with technical counterparts at ORNL Collaborating with other functional groups within Cray on technical matters related to supporting scientific application work happening at ORNL The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in Scientific Applications on HPC computer systems and be able to apply this technical expertise to enhance users experience with Cray systems A degree in computer science applied mathematics or engineering is required (MS or PhD preferred) Experience with porting and optimization of applications on UNIXbased systems (experience with several of the more prevalent scientific codes is highly desired) including but not limited to GPU Proficiency in Fortran C MPI OpenMP and parallel methods desired Proficiency with the use of performance analysis tools compiler analysis tools and debuggers is desired A thorough understanding of high performance computing architectures Analytical problem solving ability Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and adapt to change Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to be able to work within a team to complete tasks on schedule Additional information Relevant experience and the demonstrated ability to be able to quickly acquire the above skills and qualifications will be considered The location for this position will be at ORNL Some travel is required ( 10) Benchmark and Applications Analyst
