This position is responsible for efficiently and accurately answering benefit questions, processing a high volume of transactions, and system audits, resolving associate problems. Also assists in the administration of all employee benefit plans including life, health, dental, vision, disability, flexible spending accounts, 401(k), stock purchase, and leave of absence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Initial point of contact for associates & store managers providing timely customer service and advice on the provisions of all benefit programs in accordance with our SPD and other plan documents. Also responsible for resolving eligibility issues, navigating associates through the enrollment website and researching claim payment problems.
Performs administrative tasks, such as sorting mail and forwarding appropriately, responding to the benefits email box, contacting vendors to research and resolve insurance issues and assisting teammates with various overflow tasks and projects to include maintaining and tracking annual dependent eligibility and SSN audits.
Possess a good understanding of the SAP system in order to verify and access information, process benefit election updates and assist with audit projects to ensure data integrity.
Maintain Excel and Word applications for record keeping of phone calls, qualified status change forms, late enrollments, and long term disability enrollment and customer communications to drive consistency and compliance.
Record, reconcile and deposit weekly premium payments for all US associates while out on leave of absence. This process involves manual data processing of premium arrear payments, running and maintaining SAP report to manually balance data and manipulate data to generate correspondence for collection of arrear payments and initiate payroll deductions. This function is a manual process that directly supports budgetary savings impact to the company.
Cross-trained within the Benefits team to assist all team members with projects as assigned.
Process qualified event status changes daily in accordance with policy and IRS guidelines and enroll dependants for Cobra offered on qualified events.
Respond to state insurance verifications and child support orders weekly.
Participate in annual open enrollment process, communicate, change and assist associates with plan elections and participate in year-end auditing for accuracy.
Enroll Voluntary LTD approved by carrier after each open enrollment.
Conduct new associate orientation programs.
Other projects as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Healthcare or customer service experience preferred.
• Able to demonstrate the ability to articulate effectively.
• Able to demonstrate extreme patience and confidentiality when handling client requests, questions and/or concerns.
• Able to demonstrate intermediate proficiency in Microsoft office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Able to demonstrate basic proficiency in the SAP application environment.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as percentages and appropriate analysis of various vendor and associate payments/ contributions.
COMPLEXITY AND PROBLEM-SOLVING
Work tasks are clearly defined and routine. Independent judgement and problem-solving required to process status events correctly and for plan interpretation and design.
Dealing with all types of personalities and handling sensitive and confidential issues. Working to resolve issues within confines of the law. Processing a high volume of calls while practicing unleashed behavior.

This position requires frequent travel by car to and between PetSmart business locations. For this reason, anyone holding this position must maintain a current and valid driver's license.
