Benefits Analyst - 13000064

      Under the direction of the Benefits Manager, the Benefits Analyst performs administrative work of considerable difficulty and performs analyses for all business units. Responds to issues and questions relative to the plans, interfaces with vendors and Board of Directors to ensure that optimum service is provided and that procedures are in keeping with current plan documents, procedures, policies and regulations.

      Duties and Responsibilities
      • Collects and analyzes benefit data
      • Tracks trends and developments in benefits
      • Reviews and interprets benefits policies
      • Ensures compliance with rules and regulations
      • Monitors administrative costs of benefit programs and recommends cost containment strategies including alternative methods for administration and funding. Prepares budgetary recommendations and assists in the monitoring, verification and reconciliation of budgeted funds
      • International Global Plan and International Medical Plans
      • Retirement Plans
      • Special Projects
      Skills and Abilities
      • Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs. Ability to understand, evaluate and make judgment on requests for proposals (RFP)
      • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Oracle
      • Knowledge of benefit contract language
      • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements – both adopted and pending – affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMAL, ADA, SECTION 125, Workers Compensation, Medicare, OBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements
      • Bachelor’s Degree and 1 to 3 years of prior work experience in benefits or insurance environment with a demonstrated knowledge of plan administration, or, for an exceptional non-degreed candidate, 5 plus years of related work experience as an equivalent to the educational requirements
      • Professional designations preferred
      • The ability to work as a team with the Benefits, HR, Legal and Accounting departments on benefits issues
      • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with employees and vendors
      • Ability to work under little supervision with strong attention to detail and accuracy while adhering to various standards relative to confidentiality of information and methods used within the area
      • Ability to organize workload, meet established deadlines and work on multiple tasks under pressure
      • Must have above average customer service orientation and excellent spelling, grammar, verbal and written communication skills, including telephone etiquette
      • Must maintain statistics relevant to your job duties for manager reports and review
      • Must be available as project deadlines or department head requires
