The Human Resources department of The New School seeks a Benefits Associate. The Benefits Associate must be a conscientious self-starter, deadline-driven and customer-service oriented.
•Administer leaves of absence for union employees, including determining eligibility for unpaid and paid leaves, processing and tracking short-term disability and workers’ compensation claims, coordinating leaves with FMLA requirements, and inputting all related data into banner.
• Provide customer service to union employees on a wide range of employee benefits related questions, including but not limited to health, dental, retirement, flexible spending, tuition, workers compensation and disability benefits.
•Coordinate and conduct benefits orientations.
•Monitor benefits eligibility of union employees and process enrollments and terminations from all benefit plans.
•Perform other Benefits/HR projects as needed.
•Bachelor’s degree required.
•Minimum of 2 years experience administering a full range of benefit programs, including FMLA .
•Strong organization skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
•Excellent presentation, writing, and analytical skills.
•Strong customer service skills.
•Technical proficiency in an HR Information System (Banner preferred) as well as intermediate to advanced skill level in Word and Excel.
