Job Title: Benefits Specialist

The Benefits Specialist position is a very hands-on role responsible for the day-to-day administration of all Benefits programs in the US and Canada. This role will be the administrative specialist for processes and functions involved with the healthcare, retirement & wellness programs at our Company. The role works closely with internal and external customers, consultants, and vendors to manage the daily functions and assist the employees with issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Daily administration, processes and maintenance of all company benefit programs, including healthcare, life, disability, leave of absences, time off pay and other additional benefits.
Good understanding of COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, FMLA and other benefit related laws.
Advise employees on eligibility, plan design and processes.
Assist employees with questions and issues, escalating as necessary.
Assist with the open enrollment and annual renewal processes, system changes and employee communications.
Liaison to vendors for investigation of benefit eligibility, issues, discrepancies, claim issues and other daily processes.
Review and audit billing statements and enrollment reports and process billings and/or fundings on a monthly basis.
Keep accurate and compliant records for employees; monitor and audit as necessary.
Keep documentation of benefits processes up-to-date and compliant.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience Required
BA/BS degree preferred.
Knowledge of HRIS and/or benefits systems with query capabilities; knowledge of ADP Benefits a plus.
Three (3) plus years of progressive benefits administration experience required.
Applied knowledge of benefit plan principles and governing laws: (i.e. COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA).
Good organizational, problem solving and planning skills.
Ability to compare and analyze data in order to ensure compliance with plans.
Strong interpersonal skills demonstrating a positive, personal and professional image.
Proficient in all Microsoft Office products
Ability to work independently and be very proactive in a high performance environment.
Ability to adapt readily to change; high tolerance for ambiguity and high degree of flexibility in a fast paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Very detail oriented.
Ability to provide a high level of service excellence to employees.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in all situations.
Willingness to work with manual processes.
