About the Position
Reporting to the Total Rewards Manager, the Benefits Specialist is an employee-facing role. The position will provide outstanding customer service to SolarWorld employees in the area of benefits. The position requires a high-degree of knowledge in various areas of employee benefits and a solid history of employee support and benefits issue resolution. This position may also be assigned to other duties across the full-spectrum of Human Resources.
Primary responsibilities for this position include the following:
Administer the company's benefit programs including medical, dental, life, vision, disability, flex and health savings accounts, COBRA, education assistance and retirement programs
Plan, conduct and participate in selected benefit and compensation surveys, both locally and nationally; analyze surveys to determine market competitiveness
Provide outstanding customer service to employees to resolve their problems and questions related to Total Rewards.
Oversee planning and execution of annual benefits open enrollment and annual pay increase processes
Develop and provide detailed reports for budgeting, auditing and other purposes
Provide benefits and compensation training, overviews and employee communications sessions to help employees maximize SolarWorld's benefits offerings.
Interact with third party vendors for all benefits areas (e.g., health, dental, vision, 401k, worker's comp, STD, LTD, supplemental, COBRA) to ensure employees have easy access to services and have their questions answered quickly and efficiently.
Facilitate changes in processes to support continuous process improvement projects, both internally and with our vendors.
Maintain personnel records in accordance with legal requirements (HIPPA), particularly in the areas of health and other benefits-related information.
Assist with Wellness Team activities.
Attendance is a required function of this position.

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of experience, knowledge, and skills:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (i.e., human resources) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Customer-facing HR experience across an array of HR functions. Preference will be given to candidates with detailed knowledge and significant experience supporting employee benefits.
3-5 years minimum experience in HR as a Specialist or Generalist with prior experience in HR Support, Benefits, Health & Wellness functions. The position will be involved in supporting the full spectrum of employee benefits across the full employee lifecycle - from new hire orientation to termination.
Working knowledge of the details of health benefits and 401k. The successful candidate should be prepared to demonstrate effective resolution of employee concerns and issues with benefits.
Must have experience working with a variety of health insurance and risk management vendors.
Preference for prior experience with a web-based benefits management systems and experience with a robust HRIS for managing employment records, status changes, etc.
Working knowledge of the HR body of knowledge including benefits basics and related federal and state regulations. Additional preference given for CBP, PHR or similar relevant professional certification.
Proficient in Microsoft Office productivity tools such as Word, Excel and Power Point as well as web-based benefits management tools and HRIS systems.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Preference for candidates who have worked in a customer-facing HR position.
Demonstrated ability to achieve objectives by working in and with cross-functional and multi-cultural teams.
Ability to travel domestically for training and multi-site support and collaboration is required.
