The benefits and payroll expert will be responsible for identifying and driving process improvements and proactively refining the overall operations of the payroll and benefits function. The ideal candidate will evaluate current practices to find better ways of getting the job done, using innovative ways to solve problems. The ideal candidate will also employ a hands-on approach to benefits and payroll management. This is an opportunity to lead the implementation of benefits programs and to make changes to plans and/or administrative procedures.
Responsibilities:
Answering employee questions regarding benefit plans and plan provisions; serve as liaison between employees and insurance providers to resolve benefit related questions.
Create reports, prepare analysis and conduct audits as needed for open enrollment. Prepare annual benefits/401(k)-related reports.
Maintain all benefits documentation including plan documents, amendments, summary plan descriptions, 401(k) and coordinate compliance with other benefit requirements.
Update and maintain HR portal; process all status changes and ensure that they are handled correctly within payroll.
Perform payroll processing functions for all employees, including verification of input made by timekeepers for hours worked, pay code entries and paid time off requests.
Conduct final audit for payroll and calculate and processes ad hoc payroll requests as it relates to rate or position changes, incentive payments, retroactive and any special payments.
Take responsibility for the maintenance of the time and attendance system.
Use a customer centric, positive approach to communicate with employees as needed to resolve questions and concerns

Qualifications:

5+ years of Benefits Consulting and/or Benefits Administration experience
Demonstrated ability to lead projects from concept to implementation
Advanced knowledge of employee benefit plan management
Strong vendor management, project management, analytical and problem solving skills
Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification a plus
Knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA and IRS regulations desired
