GE is an equal opportunity employer, offering a great work environment, challenging career opportunities, professional training and competitive compensation.The Big Data Integration Engineer will work within the IT Risk Intelligence Solutions team; operationally owning and and managing our big data integration platform, participating on global projects and initiatives, developing new applications and integrations, leveraging cutting edge big data technologies and working with security professionals from across the company.
Operational ownership and management of our big data integration platform
Learning and utilizing new technologies, concepts and procedures as appropriate to project requirements
Designing and managing the ETL process, including data quality and testing
Working with data in the 100+ terabyte scale
Defining and managing the implementation of security requirements for the platform
Working with project managers and business stakeholders to identify and integrate new master data sources
Developing new applications and integrations with both internal (on-premise) and external (cloud) systems, leveraging RESTful APIs
Migrating existing point to point data integrations; identifying and removing redundant data processes, scripts and batch jobs
Implementing standards-based web services to facilitate sharing extremely large volumes of data
Implementing complementary solutions, procedures and processes to help address data quality and management
Profiling, cleansing, mapping, normalising and correlating datasets
Analyzing problems areas; designing and implementing system improvements
Evaluating, testing and proposing next-generation technology related to risk intelligence and big data
Working with project teams, business analysts, technical teams, vendors, and partners to translate detailed requirements specifications into delivered solutions within specified timelines
Working on business specific engagement projects and initiatives to leverage our risk intelligence solutions
Creating and maintaining both technical documentation (design documents, data flow diagrams) and user documentation (user guides, training materials, wiki articles)
Proactively learning and utilizing new technologies, concepts and procedures as appropriate to project requirements
Providing leadership and guidance to offshore DBA team members
Communication, participation and engagement with GE and external developer communities
Planning, testing and implementing all application development
Plan and execute releases, scheduled and emergency deployments and changes, ensuring compliance with standard operational processes, including incident, problem and change management processes
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
Minimum 2 years of DBA experience including database design, normalization and expert level SQL
Minimum 2 years of experience working with data integration technologies such as ETL
Minimum1 year of experience as a professional programmer in Python or other scripting language
Minimum 1 year of experience in application development

Strong data modeling skills (normalized and multidimensional)
Strong technical skills with data warehousing technologies, including Open Source solutions
Systems: Linux, Apache
Standards: SOAP, REST, AJAX, MVC, JSON, XML.
Strong hands-on experience with NOSQL: Hadoop, Cassandra, Redis, MongoDB, or similar.
Minimum 3 years of experience in IT
Experience with Splunk
Strong track record of understanding and interest in current and emerging technologies demonstrated through training, job experience and/or industry activities
Strong communication skills
Strong team player – collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources
Strong analytical skills – strong problem solving skills, communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information/data to make decisions; anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve
