The billing assistant plays a critical role in the revenue cycle of the firm by providing billing coordinators assistance in the production of client bills.


1. Monitors the billing mail-box and acts as first level review:
a. Assists timekeepers and secretaries with diary entry issues and transfers of time and costs between matters;
b. Identifies appropriate recipient (billing coordinator or other departments); forwards when appropriate

2. Gathers client required auxiliary documentation from various data sources
3. Enters client billing guidelines into database
4. Assists with the monthly printing and distributing of unbilled proformas and unbilled inventory and accounts receivable reports
5. Provide backup coverage for billing coordinators
6. Provide clients and attorneys with invoice copies
7. Other related duties as assigned


o Bachelor’s degree preferred
o Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills
o The billing assistant must possess a high degree of confidence and professional maturity and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
o Demonstrated ability to work in dynamic, multi-office environment
o Provides superior customer service
o Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel
o Self directed with a strong work ethic; capable of working independently with limited supervision
o Ability to occasionally work outside of established business hours and adjust personal schedule to meet deadlines is required
