The Billing Customer Service Representative is responsible for assisting Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc.’s internal and external customers through telecommunications and written communications.

Job Responsibilities:
Responds to general inquiries made by clients, patients, and sales representatives in a prompt and efficient manner
• Knowledge of Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc. test offerings, consultation services is essential
• Responds professionally, courteously to all patient, client and sales billing questions and requests via phone, fax and e-mail
• Performs duties related to problem discovery and resolution and works closely with the supervisory staff of other pre-analytical services and other departments within Health Diagnostic Laboratory
• Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office products to include: Microsoft Windows OS, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access
• Adhere to HIPAA guidelines to protect patient confidentiality
• Answer and assist clients with calls related to:
o Billing inquiries from patients, clients and Sales Support
o Sort and distribute billing mail and respond to correspondence
o Respond to requests for lab reports and or patient statements
o Produce and document Quality Incident Reports
o Maintain and produce spreadsheets related to call volume
Job Requirements:
Minimum education includes a high school diploma or equivalent, but associate’s degree is preferred
• Two-four years of healthcare insurance experience
• Ability to interpret and analyze EOBs, remits and payment posting entries is mandatory
• Working knowledge of major payers and their websites necessary
• Previous medical laboratory experience is preferred
• Ability to communicate well through written and verbal means is required
• Requires computer proficiency and a high degree of proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel.
• Knowledge of ICD-9 Codes and CPT codes
• Attention to detail, accuracy, time management and organizational skills
• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within the field of healthcare insurance
• Ability to maintain strict HIPAA compliance
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, work under pressure and a commitment to achieving customer satisfaction is the key to success in this position
