Ensure timely and accurate processing of billing transactions. Exercise general supervision of billing department employees.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Involved in hiring staff, evaluating performance and recommending pay and/or performance increases, promotions and disciplinary actions
  • Supervise daily operations, train and orient assigned personnel
  • Monitor and evaluate insurance monthly reimbursements
  • Act as a resource to providers, management and others regarding policies and procedures regarding billing
  • Monitor electronic transmissions to ensure successful resolutions with claims
  • Maintain knowledge of policy and procedural changes from insurance carriers that affect the organization
  • Develop new procedures with management and appropriate committee to improve the quality and quantity of work processed
  • Attend required meetings and participates in committees as requested
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Work with office managers, staff and patients to resolve difficult concerns
  • Prepare, evaluate and analyze reports to determine revenue trends and patterns
  • Maintain required records and files
  • Maintain effective working relationships with billing clients, providers and office managers
  • Perform other assignments as required
Job Requirements Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required (Associates degree preferred)
  • Minimum of five years medical billing/collections and at least one year of supervisory or team leader experience
Knowledge and skill:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and medical software programs
  • In-depth knowledge in insurance policies, medical terminology and medical codes
  • Familiarity with ICD-9 and/or CPT codes
  • Skilled in the use of technology
  • Proven team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to enable the exchange of clear factual information
  • Excellent written and verbal skills

  • Demonstrated organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to solve complex problems
  • Ability to hire, train and supervise staff
