The primary responsibility of the Billing Support Assistant is to provide clerical support to the Billing Specialists, Team Leads and Manager.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Opens and sorts mail received on a daily basis as outlined in department procedure.
  • Processes all outgoing mailings for department according to procedure.
  • Distributes all department mail on a daily basis.
  • Processes all requests for billing and other applicable paperwork from patients, co-workers, etc...
  • Has a complete understanding of SMS Patient Accouting System and is able to utilize all functions appropriately.
  • Consistently receives and reviews daily reports for distribution.
  • Files as required by retention policies.
  • Directs any problems with accounts or where additional intervention is needed to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Executes job duties to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency. Uses available work time to complete all tasks within established frames and timelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    The following are the job requirements for the Billing Support Assistant position:

  • Must work effectively with other employees, patients, insurance companies and other outside parties.
  • The ability to clerly communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing is required.
  • Provides customer focused service, exceeding expectations of both interal and external customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and others as required.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail, prioritize needs, mulit-task and manange needs is essential.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least one year of experience in a healthcare business office environment is preferred.
