AECOM is seeking entry-level biologists based in our Sacramento. The position is a part-time variable or “on call” position, which means that the employee may have no work on some weeks and up to 60 hours on others. Some weekend work may be required.

Primary work includes monitoring sensitive biological resources, conducting general field surveys for biological resources, conducting sensitive species surveys and permitting, conducting wetlands permitting (e.g., CWA Section 404 and 401, DFG Section 1600), preparing biological reports, preparing and implementing mitigation and restoration plans, and preparing biological resources sections of CEQA and NEPA documents.

The ability and desire to perform extensive fieldwork on potentially difficult terrain and during adverse weather conditions on field assignments ranging from several days to months at a time will be essential. Training in relevant biological disciplines (e.g., wildlife, plants, fisheries, herpetology, entomology), strong field skills, and familiarity with major environmental regulations are important. Good interpersonal skills, excellent writing and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are fundamental. Attitude and demeanor compatible with collaborative team efforts, ability to professionally interact with clients and resource agency representatives, and ability to understand the expectations of assigned tasks are desired. Cross-experience with construction crews and field engineers is a plus.

Requirements include, at a minimum, a BS or BA degree in a biological or environmental field or work experience that provides an equivalent understanding of these disciplines.
