The Protein Optimization Team within the Biotechnology Discovery Research Division at Eli Lilly and Company is part of a core group responsible for generating, characterizing, and optimizing ground-breaking biotherapeutics from the point of discovery through preclinical development.
The scientists within the Protein Optimization Team participate in cross-disciplinary efforts as we collectively strive to engineer innovative and best in class biotherapeutic medicines that treat cancer, autoimmunity, metabolic disorders, and many other diseases
We are seeking a highly motivated and scientifically driven individual with a BS or MS degree in biochemistry or related field to join and expand the technical capabilities within our talented and passionate team.
The individual selected for this position will be responsible for molecular cloning, protein purification, and protein characterization using current biochemical and biophysical techniqu
The successful candidate is expected to carry out protein engineering efforts, generate data that enables structure/function relationship analysis, as well as identify and address issues pertaining to the physiochemical properties of
potential biotherapeutic drug candidates.
Applicants are expected to possess core competencies in molecular biology, protein biochemistry, purification, and biophysical characterization.

Purifying proteins using various chromatographic techniques
Characterizing protein structure, stability, and solution properties using various biochemical and biophysical approaches
Characterizing protein-protein interactions
Working in multifunctional teams
Presenting experimental data at team meetings
BS or MS degree in protein biochemistry or related field with 0-10 years of experience in an academic or industrial setting.
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.

Hands-on experience with the purification and characterization of proteins.
Experience with recombinant DNA manipulatio.
Capable of independently designing experiments, generating data, interpreting results, and documenting work .

Experience with proteins intended for therapeutic applications.
