Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and
technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and
Advanced Technologies. We also develop products and processes related to
Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

This position is located at Kennedy Space Center on the Engineering Services (ESC) contract.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain bacterial cultures and
    prepare cultures for experimentation, microscopy, and genetic analysis.
  • Maintain, operate, and
    troubleshoot equipment for quantitative PCR and nucleic acid sequencing.
  • Conduct tests for the
    detection, characterization, and identification of specific microorganisms
    from a variety of matrices.
  • Assist with the collection and
    analysis of data in controlled biological systems.
  • Compile, analyze, and present
    test results both in written and in oral form.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

The candidate should have the ability to work with other
scientists and engineers on various projects, understand, and run experiments
in a micro and molecular biology laboratory with minimal supervision. The
individual must have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and
procedures related to microbiology and molecular biology. The candidate must
demonstrate a record of ´╗┐´╗┐analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Prior experience
operating in a technical field where hands-on performance of laboratory work
and experimental set-up is necessary. Basic computer skills with the
Microsoft Office suite of tools are required. Instrumentation experience with
instruments such as flow cytometers, fluorescent and confocal microscopes,
genetic analyzers, thermocyclers, plate readers, spectrophotometers, is a plus.
Strong time management skills and the ability to support multiple tasks
concurrently will be required. It is required to have an understanding of
laboratory safety practices, procedures, data acquisition, and reporting.

Requires a BS in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or other related technical degree with a minimum of 3 years
of experience.
