Biology - Augustana College invites applications for two professional faculty positions to begin August 15, 2013. These are 10-month, non-tenure-track, long-term positions. Responsibilities include teaching lecture and labs (~85%), and other duties assigned by the department chair (e.g., advising students interested in healthcare fields, mentoring students participating in internships and some administrative responsibilities). MS with 2+ years of college-level teaching experience or PhD with some teaching experience is preferred. Position 1 is focused on human biology (e.g., human anatomy, nutrition, human physiology) and Position 2 is focused on cell biology and genetics; additional teaching responsibilities include general biology for nonmajors and/or a capstone course for seniors. A commitment to undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts setting and familiarity with the literature on the science of teaching and learning is required. There are approximately 350 students majoring in biology and the pre-health professions, and 14 full-time faculty in the Biology Department.
