This individual will perform donor suitability screening in a medical reception function, as well as perform phlebotomy for the collection and storage of blood plasma using automated plasmapheresis. Screening will include medical history interviews, obtaining vital signs, urinalysis, blood testing and file maintenance. Phlebotomy and troubleshooting skills are needed to ensure health and safety of donors throughout the process. The position also process, takes samples, stores and prepares plasma for shipment.
Ability to work with a wide variety of personalities, provide friendly customer service. Customer service orientation includes the ability to instruct and persuade donors regarding plasma donation. Well organized. Able to follow oral and written directions in exact detail. Proficient record keeping ability and legible handwriting. Good reading skills; manual and hand-eye dexterity; able to work in a fast paced environment involving multiple details; flexibility in accepting changes in work environment; able to work with figures, print or write neatly and legibly, record numbers. Superior interpersonal skills; must be able to interface calmly and efficiently with diverse personalities and be able to maintain a pleasant and professional attitude at all times. Must be a team player and able to work well with others. Knowledge of medical terminology, aseptic technique, paramedical principles, methods and procedures desirable. May also utilize office equipment, freezer, hand held tubing stripper, centrifuge, computer terminal. Knowledge of basic computer applications; such as Excel, Word. Data entry and/or light typing. Uses basic mathematics.
High school diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of one year's medical assistant or receptionist experience preferred. A minimum of six month's medical training, vocational school and/or phlebotomy training is preferred.
