Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc (TEMA) is the alignment of Toyota's North American R&D and manufacturing operations, joining the operations, planning and technical functions. TEMA headquarters in Erlanger, KY, house the Toyota Operations Center and the Toyota Planning Center. The main offices for the Toyota Technical Center are in Ann Arbor and Saline, MI. The Body & Chassis Strength Engineer position is in the Vehicle Performance Development Department (VPD1) located in Ann Arbor, MI.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Validate body and chassis system strength and durability through physical testing, interpreting CAE results, hand calculations and design reviews.
Work with body and chassis design to develop body and chassis components to meet requirements.
Support development of the group in area of testing procedures, prediction tools and target setting.
Follow industry trend and implement R&D.
Project management.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, MS in Mechanical Engineering a plus
Minimum of 1 year of experience in design and/or evaluation of body and chassis systems is preferred
Excellent understanding and application of engineering fundamentals
Excellent problem solving capability
Excellent written and oral communication
Willingness to travel
