THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT THE PIEDMONT REGION MAINTENANCE YARD, ASHEBORO NC; BUT WILL BE ASSIGNED TO THE SANDHILLS MAINTENANCE COMPLEX, HOKE COUNTY, RAEFORD, NC. THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION IS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE OPERATION AND ROUTINE MAINTENANCE OF THE BOILER PLANT, WATER TREATMENT FACILITY AND ASSOCIATED SUPPORT SYSTEMS/COMPONENTS. THE BOILER OPERATOR SHALL START-UP AND SHUTDOWN BOILERS, OPERATE SUPPORT SYSTEMS, MONITOR AND RECORD VARIOUS OPERATIONAL READINGS, MAKE NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS TO MAINTAIN PLANT EFFICIENCY, PERFORM WATER TESTS AND ADD CHEMICALS TO THE WATER TREATMENT FACILITY AS NECESSARY, PERFORM ROUTINE BOILER MAINTENANCE AND ASSIST WITH MORE COMPLEX MAINTENANCE JOBS AS REQUIRED BY SUPERVISOR.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
THIS POSITION REQUIRES A WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF THE METHODS OF INSTALLATION AND REPAIR OF BOILER OPERATIONS. POSSESS A WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF THE SAFETY PRECAUTION ASSOCIATED WITH BOILER COMPONENTS AND OPERATIONS. SKILL IN THE USE OF TOOLS, MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT COMMONLY USED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF BOILER OPERATIONS. THE ABILITY TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY OF LEAD WORKER IN THE PERFORMANCE OF BOILER OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE. THE ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND AND CARRY OUT ORAL AND WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS .
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Completion of grammar school and one year of progressive experience in the performance of tasks associated with mechanical maintenance, or the operation of large, complex boilers; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. . . .
