The Boiler Plant Operator Supervisor acts as the Plant Operations Foreman within the Operations Section of Facilities Management Service (FMS) at the Lyons Campus with responsibility for the efficient daily operation of the Boiler Plant and Wastewater Treatment Plant. The utility systems supervised include:
A high pressure steam boiler plant consisting of five automatic-fired combination oil and gas burning boilers; 24,150 pounds per hour, 700 hp, operating at 110 pounds pressure with a total capacity of 120,750 foot-pounds per hour at 100% and 96,600 at 80% and an average output of 40,000 - 45,000 pounds per hour. Four (4) 40,000 gallon fuel oil tanks and one (1) 10,000 gallon emergency overflow fuel tank.
A wastewater treatment plant that has a capacity of 1,000,000 gallons per day with secondary treatment and discharge into a local water stream. The plant is complete with screens, aeration tanks, clarifiers, pumps, rapid sand filters, ultra violet disinfection system, air blowers, screen grinder chemical feed system, sludge return system and parshal flume.
The Boiler Plant Operator Supervisory position is a "working supervisor" position which requires the incumbent to be fully capable of working any shift, in either plant under his/her direction. The incumbent is subject to overtime and emergency callbacks, as the needs of the facility demand.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM
