POSITION SUMMARY:
Chanel Inc. a leader in the luxury goods industry is seeking a Boutique Director. The Chanel management team focuses on three primary areas of Image, Service and Leadership in their roles, alongside business responsibilities. Within the boutique team, the Boutique Director is the ultimate Chanel brand ambassador, keeping brand image and standards in mind as a constant priority. S/he also helps to drive the company standard of the Ultimate Luxury Experience for all clients and ensures the boutique is represented within the highest standards of image, service and leadership. The Boutique Director is also the primary business owner, driving and maximizing boutique sales volume and profitability while ensuring operational integrity. S/he sets the boutique tone and culture while overseeing team development and the generation of bench strength. Operationally, the Director assumes full responsibility for operational compliance and team understanding of Chanel’s guiding principles.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Image
Model “floor-ready” expectations in terms of dress code and behave as a brand ambassador to all audiences Actively assess efficacy and suggest changes as needed
Enforce “floor-ready” guidelines amongst team in a reasonable, constructive and respectful manner
Set standard for brand image by partnering with Visual team on boutique visual needs and initiatives. Ensures space is kept in line with visual direction
Service
Maintain floor coverage to support team in providing a superior Chanel Experience for clients. Set an example through client interactions and ensure a welcoming environment exists on the floor. Be aware of Fashion Advisor behavior to ensure standards are being met
Identify and address all client needs and expectations. Successfully resolve high level issues, partnering with the appropriate teams as needed
Lead client service initiatives and work with team to understand and execute
Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the merchandise; ensure selling staff is fluent in all aspects of product knowledge. Work with internal partners to identify training needs and opportunities
Maintain thorough understanding of all policies, procedures and processes. Responsible for boutique adherence to company retail operating and security procedures. Assess trends and needs and partner with corporate to ensure ad-hoc training is delivered as needed
Ensure team understands and adheres to Chanel’s guiding principles, the driver and spirit behind policies & procedures
Work with Fashion Advisors to develop sales technique and clienteling skills
Develop and direct onboarding strategies for new hires and partner with staff to drive execution
Meet annual mystery shop goals to be set in partnership with corporate teams
Leadership
Assumes overall leadership responsibility for boutique and acts as ultimate decision maker
Develop and lead team to ensure consistent achievement of company standard
Create and influence a culture of collaboration, growth and development. Develop and lead team, focusing on building bench
Proactively address and resolve employee issues in a professional manner and in accordance with Chanel standards, policies and procedures; partner HR as needed
Demonstrates integrity, honesty and knowledge that promotes the company culture, values, and mission
Fosters a positive working environment that encourages diversity, mutual respect and teamwork and is free of discrimination and harassment
Own recruitment. Actively develops relationships with potential talent pool for all positions on the team.
Hold recurring coaching/counseling sessions with associates to review performance and provide timely feedback.
Business
Develop business goals with Regional and translate into team action plan
Responsible for driving all aspects of business volume including assortment planning in conjunction with corporate teams, events, community networking and client development
Identify strategies to retain and develop high-potential and top clients. Develop action plans for team members to drive these initiatives
Create and maintain strong working relationships with corporate partners to continuously assess and strengthen all aspects of the business
Continuously network for active knowledge of the market, industry trends and competition. Leverage this understanding to drive the business
Control store expenses and maintain operating budgets while continually striving to reduce costs
Support, promote and assume responsibility for loss prevention in all areas of risk management, physical security, store cash controls, inventory management, inter-store communication and L/P audits
Develop events/incentives that will continue to grow customer base, with particular emphasis on building local market
Represent Chanel by identifying and interacting with appropriate local community groups to generate business opportunities and positive PR
Oversee adequacy of client gifts and favors throughout the year
Set and approve weekly schedule, ensuring adequate floor coverage
Manage and drive appropriate stock levels to maximize full price sales and sell through
Complete EOM Report monthly recapping merchandise performance and business trends
Other business projects/responsibilities as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in management, hospitality or fashion-related field a plus
Minimum Years of Experience: 8-10 years of prior retail management experience a must. Must have experience with operations, merchandising, sales and stock activities
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Prior experience in luxury fashion running a comparable size business is required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is needed
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, are a must
Strong analytical skills and ability drive a business from all facets are required
Strong vision and leadership skills are must; proven track record of developing a team is needed
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines concurrently is needed
Ability to understand budgets, sales, stock and assortment planning is a must
Ability to work a flexible schedule and stand/walk for extended hours is required
The ideal candidate demonstrates high degree of professionalism in communication, attitude and teamwork with customers, peers, and management team
Candidate must possess managerial courage and high degree of ethics.
