The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized, faith based, nonprofit organization, seeks a Boys and Girls Club Program Coordinator for The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club located in Waxahachie, Texas.

The Boys and Girls Club Program Coordinator provides activities and child care services for school-age children participating in the Boys and Girls Club After School and/or Summer Day Camp Programs; facilitates recreational activities, educational, spiritual, and character building programming, and play time; prepares and maintains program records; assist in maintaining Club facilities, equipment and grounds. Provides leadership and constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner; exhibits control of the children and when needed displays proper discipline techniques.

Ensures that teachers have lesson plans completed in a timely manner; assists teachers as they administer activities for school age children; ensures that activities are age appropriate, stimulating, fun and safe for the children.; locates supplies for teachers to decorate rooms with up-to-date themes and seasons; prepares and maintains attractive, entertaining, and educational bulletin boards. Implements educational, spiritual, and character building programming within the structure of the programs set forth by director; provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside learning activities.

Uses appropriate supplies and materials for recreational activities; ensures the children's safety in utilizing the same; maintains accountability and inventory of all recreational equipment. Collects all statistical information for all grants, licensing, and Divisional and Territorial in a timely manner as required by the corps officer and Boys and Girls Club Unit Director. Prepares and serves children snacks and meals (when appropriate); ensures that children receive nutritional and tasteful food; provides positive, relaxed atmosphere during mealtime encouraging conversation; USDA training is required.

Organizes and supervises all field trips; including but not limited to setting up, gathering all supplies for, arranging payment, scheduling staff within ratio, getting directions & communicating them to staff and making sure events are scheduled accordingly. Recruits and coordinates all volunteer activities for the Club. Collects and receipts all money paid by program participants; ensures the security and accountability of all money collected; notifies patrons of past due payments or payment discrepancies; maintains accurate and complete records of payments.

Opens and closes the Boys and Girls Club in compliance with established operating hours; ensures the center is properly secured during non-operating hours; closes and locks windows and doors, and turns off lights before leaving the Club and straightens the areas before leaving each day. Maintains the program materials in an orderly fashion; maintains accountability for materials necessary for programs. Ensures staff has cleaned the kitchen, classrooms, tables, floors, etc. in accordance with established sanitary standards; assists in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the Club facilities and grounds. Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports in a timely manner for the Club Director (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.).

Reports all accidents to the officer manager, corps officer, and parent(s) in an accurate and timely manner, in the director’s absence. Builds and maintains effective and positive relationships with parents; informs parents of children's progress and specific incidents. Transports patrons to and from the Club; observes good driving habits at all times in order to ensure the safety of patrons and The Salvation Army vehicles.

Required Experience:
Two years experience teaching child development programs in a state licensed facility, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Required Education:
Associates Degree in early childhood development. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

$8.50-$9.00 an hour DOE
