Breast Ultrasound Technologist (sonographer) provide patient services using diagnostic breast ultrasound equipment.
The sonographer is competent in the productions and analysis of ultrasound images used by Physicians for patient diagnosis and treatment. In addition, the individual must be prepared to render quality patient care by exercising discretion and judgment in the performance of breast ultrasound services. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.
Graduate of accredited School of Sonography. Licensed by the State of New Jersey. 2-3 year breast ultrasound experience required.
Must be either certified by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or by the American registry of radiologic technologists (ARRT) with certification in breast sonography. Maintains required BLS Heart Saver/ Health Care Provider course completion status/ CPR. Maintains at least 5 continuing education units (CEUs) of breast ultrasound topics and must must continue with the continuing education as required by the certifying organization. Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
