The maximum salary that can be paid for this position will be $37,145

Assists with the day to day operation of the Winston-Salem Regional Field Services Office of the Communicable Disease Branch. Serves as a Lead Worker handling difficult cases and providing guidance and consultation to Public Health Disease Control Specialists. This position interacts daily with HIV/STD field investigators, local health departments and hospital staff, physicians, community outreach workers, general public and others in the public health community. Activities involve direct patient contact and excellent training skills are required. This position networks with the statewide HIV care programs. This includes county/state DIS, private providers and bridge counselors, while serving as a Bridge Counselor between HIV diagnosed individuals and the regional HIV care network. Position provides active care referral for people living with HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis and other diseases and/or conditions that requires specialize care and treatment. Position will have region-wide responsibility. Position requires use of personal vehicle and travel.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:

Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and expertise in syphilis/HIV disease aspects, diagnosis, treatment, case finding, follow-up and analysis. Demonstrated legible handwriting, computer skills in Windows, Work Processing, Work and Data base entry. Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and through written documents. Must be able to drive vehicle and to work independently in non-handicapped accessible areas. Must have a valid NC driver’s license. Management Prefers Bilingual (Spanish Latino Speaking)

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Graduation from a four-year college/university and two years of experience as a public health disease control specialist, including one year in the same program area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
