Plans, coordinates and participates in the mechanical and repair of movable bridges, roadway lightings and tunnel facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assists electricians in maintenance and repair of electrical Systems.
Maintains bridge general lighting and navigational lighting.
Performs monthly routine maintenance of bridge machinery to include lubrication of gears, bearings, motors, changing filters, replacing gear and hydraulic oils.
Maintains and replaces hydraulic hoses, pumps, motors, valves and related components.
Completes monthly maintenance logs.
Ability to respond 24-hours a day for after hour emergency calls necessitated by accidents or bridge malfunctions.
Performs scheduled maintenance of bridge components to ensure continuous bridge operations.
Assists Professional Engineers in their annual inspection of the movable bridge electrical and mechanical systems.
Cleans bridge roadway, sidewalks and slopes of trash and debris.
Identifies and removes graffiti.
Inspects bridge weekly for hazards and concerns and reports them to supervisor.
All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bridge Mechanics should possess the ability to cooperate and communicate with co-workers and supervisor.
Must be able to consistently follow company and safety policies and procedures and ensures compliance.
Mechanics should be able to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply divide, calculate proportions, percentages, measurements). Must also be able to understand instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Familiarity with hand tools and power equipment preferred
. Familiar with best plumbing practices/carpentry practices.
Must be capable of working in an environment in which demands and priorities change rapidly.
Ability to speak and understand Basic English.
This position requires a highly developed sense of safety awareness and perceptive ability. You must have the ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non-routine tasks and make adjustments to avoid loss, injury or accident. You must be able to communicate with co-workers safety instructions. You must be able to think clearly and focus on your safety in your immediate surroundings, while using tools and equipment, while driving or operating equipment. Ensures compliance with Transfield Service Safety Policies. You will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to your job.
Minimum Education and Experience
HS Diploma or GED (Preferred)
Five years of demonstrated experience.
Certifications and Licences
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (Required)
CDL – Class A
DOT certifications (Highly Desirable)
