DIRECTV, the nation's leading and fastest growing digital television service provider is looking for a talented, energetic and motivated technician to join their California Broadcast Center team located in Long Beach, California.

The Technical Services Broadcast Technician will be responsible for the following:

Installation, diagnosis and maintenance of various video in HD & SD, audio, data, base band, signal processing and transmission equipment.

Maintain various computer applications and their configurations, compression equipment, network components, DTMF, automation and monitoring.

Ability to quickly learn, understand and troubleshoot a variety of broadcast equipment including but not limited to analog/digital receivers, encoders, decoders, signal processors, video/audio/IP routers, patch panels, converters, video servers, switchers, multiplexers, modulators, power amplifiers and antennas.

Install cabling & new equipment, perform routine maintenance, interpret wiring diagrams and working with engineers to test and integrate new systems.

Assist in project research, design, planning, implementation, writing procedures and conducting formal or informal training.

Qualifications

5+ years of technical maintenance experience relevant to electronics, communications, IP networking, broadcast systems or television studio environment working with some of the equipment indicated above and strong ability to learn various in-house computer applications.

High School diploma or equivalent required. Degree from a college or certificate from a technical school with a focus on electronics preferred.

The ideal candidate must have strong troubleshooting skills and have the ability to analyze relationships between problem components.

A good background in computers or the ability to learn various computer applications including internal programs critical to broadcast processing and the MS Office suite of applications is required.

Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in a team environment a must.

Must be able to conduct both technical and hands-on training when necessary, work well in a deadline-driven environment, work occasional extended hours and perform other tasks as required.

Working in a 24x7 facility you will be required to work on any designated shift.

Quickly learn, understand and troubleshoot a variety of broadcast equipment including but not limited to analog/digital receivers, encoders, decoders, signal processors, video/audio/IP routers, patch panels, converters, video servers, switchers, multiplexers, modulators, power amplifiers and antennas.

Ability to use network and spectrum analyzers, vector/waveform scopes and other test equipment is a must.

On occasion, will be needed to assist in project research, design, planning, implementation, writing procedures and conducting formal or informal training.

Excellent technical documentation ability required.

Ability to lift 30-40 lbs.
