JOB DESCRIPTION: A broadcast television camera operator is responsible for audio-visual, lighting, and television broadcast operations. These operations include the recording, taping and cataloguing of audio and video media. These operations will also include the receiving, distributing, and recording of audio feeds. The Master Control/Media Technician will be responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of broadcast-quality audio and video documentation and recording systems.

JOB DUTIES: * Possesses specialized and progressively responsible experience as a broadcast camera operator and lighting technician, or instructor which shows progression in theoretical and practical knowledge of audio and video pre-production services to include analog/digital audio pickup, amplification, distribution, equalization, public address, teleprompter, and lighting systems. * Experience shall include proper utilization, interconnection, and operation of analog/digital audio and video recording, video editing, video character generation, and video teleprompter components and systems. * Experience shall include the use of schematic diagrams, a variety of test equipment, and application of appropriate electronic formulas involved in such duties as testing, troubleshooting, repairing, constructing, and developing instruction on electronic and audio equipment. * Possesses knowledge of techniques used by civilian broadcast and professional audio-visual organizations, including equipment that meets the stringent commercial broadcast standards.

  • Possesses the knowledge of the most current equipment available to maintain day-to-day operation of a professional broadcast production facility. * Has proven skills in planning, installing, operating and troubleshooting of media recording and reproduction systems to obtain commercial broadcast quality audio and video. * Has proven skills in editing television and radio actualities and events without compromising substance or context of the original program. * Familiar with television terminology and capable of performing correctly with split second precision, even under stressful conditions.
  • Knowledge of operations of commercial television station preferred. * Ability to provide audio-visual services to senior executive level government personnel without bias or prejudice. * Provide on-call support 24 hours per day, 365 per year. Support may entail phone or physical presence at the facility for equipment operation, potential system failures or other disasters.
This includes, but is not limited to UPS/LIPA failures, storms or severe weather, and loss of personnel. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: * Shall have a minimum of 5-7 years experience in audio-visual and/or television broadcast operations. * 2-3 years experience and explicit in-depth knowledge of the installation, operation, and maintenance of broadcast-quality audio and video documentation and recording systems. EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS: * BS/BA or equivalent experience in related field.

  • 2 to 5 year’s direct experience with various fixed and portable audio-visual systems and equipment required – installation, operation and maintenance of audio-visual equipment such as control systems, VTC, video processors, fiber router, audio-visual switchers and routers, video aspect ratios, television monitors, video projections, non-linear editing systems, audio amplifiers and audio telecommunications. * AVID certifications for Media Composer (User and Expert); Pro Tools (Operator and Expert for Music, Live Sound, Post Production and Worksurface) and Support Representative (ACSR)(Editing, Support, and Elite Certification) a plus. * Experience with advanced broadcast systems for accelerated H.264 encoding, PESA Router Switcher digital and analog, AVID and Unity systems and maintenance of high definition camcorders, OmniBus Systems, broadcast quality HD video cameras and recorders, VidCAD, television, and telecommunications systems highly desirable. CLEARANCES: * Current TS/SCI with SSBI conducted within 36 months OTHER: May require periodic after hours or weekend coverage depending on the client's requirements.
