Under general to limited supervision, prepares, analyzes and manages annual budgets for the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE). Duties include preparing comprehensive and detailed reports relating to preparation and submission of budgets, budget revisions, budget performance, etc.; monitoring budgets and notifying appropriate senior Budget Division staff of significant variances; taking appropriate corrective action necessary to resolve budget variances; participating in the preparation of operating budgets and budget revisions; providing technical assistance to GaDOE program managers; entering budget amendments and running queries/reports utilizing PeopleSoft Financials; interfacing with state financial/budget entities to resolve issues; conducting comprehensive research and analysis; and conducting training for GaDOE program mangers as needed.
Bachelors Degree in public administration, business administration, accounting, finance or related field and two years of fiscal analysis experience OR Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration, accounting, finance or related fields and four years of fiscal analysis experience OR two years of experience at the lower level or an equivalent position.
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Experience with PeopleSoft Financials
• Experience with the State of Georgia budget process and associated timelines
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
Pay grade 15 – Annual salary range $35,569.36 (minimum) to $62,301.82 (maximum). Starting salary dependent on current employment, training, and experience, and available funding.
