Responsible for reporting to the Chief Engineer any condition effecting building services and staff/customer comfort and safety. Specific areas of responsibility include preventive maintenance, service work orders, and general building maintenance. Demonstrate commitment to providing excellent service to customers.
Requirements
Current City of Chicago Operating Engineer License. Member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 399. Minimum of five years as a building/stationary engineering with office building experience. Thorough understanding of mechanical equipment and construction tool usage. Basic understanding of life safety and security and systems. Military or trade school training in mechanical equipment operations and repair. Strong understanding of HVAC systems and their controls. Refrigerant Recovery Certified (Universal Level). Knowledge of and ability to maintain and repair commercial kitchen equipment. Thorough understanding of mechanical equipment and construction tool usage. Ability to work overtime including weekends. Excellent communication skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to life heavy equipment such as motors, compressors, furniture, and heavy materials such as salt and ice melt. Valid Illinois Drivers License. Ability to work in high ambient temperatures (ninety degrees plus) and low ambient temperatures (below thirty degrees) and also able to work on ladders. Flexible work hours depending on work load and time of year. Available 24 hours a day by company provided phone.
