DIESEL TRUCK AND HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANICS

MECHANIC (CDL)

DUTIES:
Diagnoses mechanical problems
Performs repairs and maintenance on conveyors, light trucks, compactors and recycling equipment to maximize safe and productive operations. Typical repairs include, but are not limited to, routine maintenance and repair of conveyors, hydraulic systems, brake systems, transmissions, electrical systems, engines, balers and compactors.
Reads and interprets VCR’s (vehicle condition reports) and/or repair orders, communicates with supervisor and/or equipment operators for clarification of problems and discusses preventive techniques with equipment users and vehicle drivers to minimize future repairs.
Completes paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage and accounts for applied times
Follows all safety policies and procedures

REQUIREMENTS:
Lift, carry and push/pull at least 75 pounds
Climb in and out of equipment
Equivalent of high school diploma or G.E.D certification and 1 years of related maintenance and repair OR 4 years of related equipment maintenance and repair
Valid CDL class B driver license

PREFERRED:
Mechanical or trade school certificate
Certificate in electrical diagnostic

MASTER MAINTENANCE SHOP TECHNICIAN A(CDL)

DUTIES:
Diagnoses mechanical problems on suspension, brake system, electrical system, hydraulic system, drive train, engine and transmission
Diagnoses and repairs tires
Performs repairs and maintenance on alternative fuel, diesel and/or gasoline trucks including front-end loader, roll off, and other vehicles to maximize safe and productive operations. Typical repairs include, but are not limited to, maintenance and repair of engines, chassis, driveline, body components, hydraulic systems, brake systems, electrical systems, suspension systems, wheels, and tires.
Road tests vehicles to diagnose problems and/or test repairs.
Overhauls gas or diesel engines.
Inspects repairs completed by outside vendors and/or manufacturers.
Completes paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for applied times
Makes emergency road calls to repair trucks.
Assesses structural damage and assigns needed repairs.
Welding and fabricate special shields or other devices according to blueprints
Follows all safety policies and procedures.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
Lift, carry and push/pull at least 75 pounds
Climb in and out of equipment
Either (1) high school diploma or G.E.D. certification and 3 years of related truck or heavy equipment maintenance; OR (2) 6 years of related truck or heavy equipment maintenance.
Valid Class A or B commercial driver license (CDL).
DOT Qualifications including Brake Maintenance & Inspections, and Annual Vehicle Inspections.

PREFERRED:
Mechanical or trade school certificate
Certificate in electrical diagnostic
Welding and/or fabrication skills and /or experience
