JOB PURPOSE

Under general direction, conducts business process analysis, needs assessment and assists with preliminary cost/benefit analyses in an effort to align information technology with business initiatives. Prepares functional and/or system specifications. Prepares test plans and procedures. Performs initial quality assurance testing and works with the business to perform final testing for release.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Acts as a liaison between the project sponsors within the business units and the IT Development to facilitate the identification of process improvements, system requirements and design, testing and implementation of large and/or complex technical projects, often requiring coordination of multiple functional areas

Conducts needs and impact analysis on business requests, searching for ways to link programs, processes, and systems throughout the organization to achieve optimal efficiency and reusability. Considers how current organizational programs and systems will be impacted by future development

Analyzes and provides recommendations on major projects and system enhancements to the decision makers

Facilitates requirements, interviews and workshops with project stakeholders

Analyzes and defines user requirements and translates them into system functional requirements to ensure understanding of the request by all project members

Documents data requirements and conducts data analysis for integration and conversion efforts

Creates business models to support requirements language

Collaborates with IT Development to ensure continuity between requirements, design, and testing on or between project teams

Creates and executes test and implementation plans and coordinates testing of system enhancements and projects with the user area

Creates and provides technical training for deployed applications or assists with user training when needed

Participates in the creation of system procedures, guidelines and technical documentation of new systems

Maintains expert level of business functional knowledge and current automated technologies

Brings expertise of Business Analysis discipline to the team helping project management, business participants, developers and other technologists adopt best practices for the software development lifecycle

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or related technical field and 3 years of business systems analysis experience OR 5 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst.

2 years’ experience with Business Systems related to the Financial Services Industry

Certification from IIBA

2 years’ experience working in a product centric environment

2 years’ experience with process re-engineering

2 years’ project management or coordination experience

Basic understanding of relational databases

2 years’ experience with user interface design

2 years’ experience with Financial/Business case Analysis
